COVID-19 and visiting The Wolversdene Club and The Hayward Suite.

We’re keeping calm and carrying on as usual here at The Wolversdene Club, however we wanted to update you on the steps we are taking to help minimise the spread of COVID-19.
The health and well-being of our staff, members and visitors is our priority and we are continuing to follow and monitor official guidance from the UK Government and Public Health England carefully.

To help combat the spread of COVID-19, we are putting precautionary safety measures in place, including:

  • Asking all staff, members and visitors to everyone who frequents the club to thoroughly wash their hands upon arrival at the premises and follow the NHS guidelines for hand-washing (we have plenty of hand soap and paper towels in our toilets)

  • Cleaning high traffic areas more frequently - with particular attention to contact points such doors, toilets, payment terminals, bars, tables and chairs.

  • Encouraging contactless payments where possible and reducing the amount of cash our staff handle

The next few months are set to be a difficult time for small business and clubs like ourselves who rely on trade from our members, so if you are in a position to do so we ask you to continue to support the club with your patronage, but please do not take any unnecessary risks.

We have strict guidelines for any of our staff who may begin to show symptoms to stay away from the club and we would encourage all our members and visitors to do the same and stay at home if they feel unwell; if you or a family member is experiencing any of the recognised symptoms; a temperature or a new, continuous cough – please follow the NHS /Government guidelines and self isolate for at least 7 days.
The Wolversdene Club has stood the test of time for almost 70 years and we are proud to be a hub for the local community, long may it continue! For many of our older members we provide an important social scene and connection with the outside world so it is important during this period of uncertainty that we pull together as a community and take care of each other, particularly the more vulnerable members of our club.
Thank you for your support,
Team Wolversdene

The Wolversdene Club is hosting a Black Tie Evening with ex England and Southampton Legend Kevin Keegan on Saturday 9th March. The Evening will consist of a 4 Course Meal, a top Comedian and of course, meeting the Legend himself. All Profits raised on the evening will go directly to local girl Rosie Rickards to help her make magic moments.

The Evening costs £700 for a Table of 10 and are limited to 10, so if you are interested or require further information then please message us, call 01264 352227 or email [email protected]

One of the greatest players in English football history, Keegan is famed for his style on the pitch, his relentless ambition and passion for the game, and this evening will feature stories, photos and anecdotes from throughout his incredible career.

Keegan will tell the story of his remarkable rise through the sport, from the Peglers Brass Works reserve team in Doncaster to helping Liverpool become the kings of Europe, winning a Bundesliga title with Hamburg and captaining England. Keegan was recognised around the world as one of the sport’s genuine superstars and remains the only Englishman to win the Ballon d’Or twice.

As a manager, Keegan’s five-year spell in charge at Newcastle is now legendary; he led the club from the depths of the old Second Division to the brink of the Premier League title with a breathtaking vision and flamboyant style that saw his team dubbed ‘The Entertainers’.

Fifty years since making his professional debut, Keegan tells the full story of the exhilarating highs and excruciating lows, from that epic battle with Sir Alex Ferguson and Manchester United in the 1995-6 season, as well as the pain of managing England and, finally, the shattering truth about his unhappy return to Newcastle in the controversial Mike Ashley era.

Brilliant, funny, passionate, deeply moving and incredibly honest, the miner’s son from Doncaster who became a superstar and was known to his adoring fans as ‘King Kev’.
